Dr Ray says that he has never been linked to the case neither has he ever visited Bhima-Koregaon ever. He only got to know about it when it became an issue.
Dr Ray is acquainted with multiple accused in the Elgar Parishad case and has worked with a few of them as well. “I have worked with Dr Anand Teltumbde on education reforms. I have also worked with activist Sudha Bharadwaj on adivasi issues. There a few more. All those who have been arrested are all well-known academicians,” said Dr Ray.

The Bombay High Court Friday refused to grant bail to activist Sudha Bharadwaj on medical grounds.
A division bench of Justices V G Bisht and RD Dhanuka accepted the statement made by the Public Prosecutor that as and when any further treatment, medication and hospitalization is required to Bharadwaj as may be advised by the concerned Medical Officer, it would be provided to the Appellant.

Rao was admitted there on July 19 after he tested positive for Covid-19. He has been taken back to Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai, where he was earlier lodged.

They have demanded ‘for an early, decisive hearing’ for her release and have also asked for full access to her medical history in prison.
The activist’s daughter, Maaysha Bharadwaj, cited a medical report from the jail dated July 23 in which it has been stated that her mother is suffering from “Ischemic Heart Disease, a heart problem caused by narrowing of arteries that causes reduced blood flow to the heart muscle and can lead to heart attack”. She added that her mother never had any heart-related complaints before she was jailed.

Mumbai: After questioning several academics and activists, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has now issued summons to three lawyers in the Elgar Parishad case. Among the three lawyers summoned to appear before the agency’s Mumbai office on August 28 are Nihalsing Rathod, Viplav Teltumbde and a Nagpur-based lawyer.
