28th August 2020: In India’s dark history of human rights violations, 28th August 2018 has become a very important day. On this day, Sudha Bharadwaj was arrested by Pune police from her home in Faridabad. On the same day, Gautam Navlakha from Delhi, Arun Ferreira and Vernon Gonsalves from Mumbai and Varavara Rao from Hyderabad were also arrested. Although Gautam Navlakha was granted relief from arrest for a while by the Delhi High Court, he was also arrested a few months ago. Koregaon Bhima inquiry commission needs another six months

While the state government has allowed the judicial commission inquiring into the 2018 Koregaon Bhima violence a month pursuant to the lockdown to wind up its process, the lawyers arguing before the commission as well as its members have demanded a minimum of additional six months to complete the inquiry, examining and cross-examining all witnesses, so all facts are taken on record.

And the witch-hunt only continues, resulting in the arrests of Gautam Navlakha and Anand Teltumbde, also charged with UAPA for the same case. While it is very evident that the case against Anand Teltumbde is fabricated, he was asked to surrender amidst the deadly pandemic along with Gautam Navlakha.
We demand the immediate release of all the 11 activists.
