Maharashtra government has constituted a two-member committee on Monday to probe into the complaints of phone tapping made by a number of political leaders including Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut. With the state state government not being able to provide funds and salaries to the members of Koregaon Bhima commission, the body has stated that it will not be able to function in such a scenario. Dalit activists have written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery, , demanding that the government immediately take steps to rectify this and have alleged that this lapse makes it clear that the commission was constituted as just an eyewash by the previous government.

Mumbai: The inquiry commission set up in Maharashtra to investigate the Koregaon-Bhima riots could call former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, one of the petitioners before the commissioner told reporters. The commission is headed by former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court JN Patel and former Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sumit Malik and was set up to conduct an inquiry into the riot that took place in Koregaon Bhima on January 1, 2018.

The Bhima Koregaon case is all set to be a royal political battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the troika of the Maharashtra government. This was clearly visible in the slap in the face of the National Investigation Agency as Pune police this week flatly refused to hand them any documents pertaining to the case and the officers had to be content with the provisional charge sheet which was already in the public domain.
