HC seeks explanation after Taloja jail’s medical reports say hey are also identical in height, weight.
The Bombay High Court has sought an explanation from Taloja Prison officials following revelations that certain portions of academic Anand Teltumbde and activist Mahesh Raut’s medical reports, both accused in the Bhima Koregaon-Elgar Parishad case, are exactly the same. The two approached the HC after co-accused Telugu poet Varavara Rao tested positive for the coronavirus last month.

The NIA claimed that Tharayil was in touch with those connected to Manipur-based insurgent group Kangleipak Communist Party –Military Council (KCP – MC), a banned outfit.
The special National Investigation (NIA) court on Tuesday extended the custody of Hany Babu Musaliyarveettil Tharayil (54), an associate professor in the department of English with the Delhi University (DU) and accused in the Elgar Parishad/ Bhima Koregaon case, to the central probe agency until August 7 (Friday).

The counsel for … Vernon Gonsalves, informed the court that his client had tested Covid-19 negative earlier this week and also spoke to his family members to convey his well-being to them.

Granting the week-long custody, special judge AT Wankhede said that looking at the nature of the offences and allegations levelled against Babu, the demand of police custody remand by the investigating officer was well founded. “The allegations made against the accused are of serious nature.
