An 83-year-old Jesuit priest and tribal rights worker from Jharkhand, Stan Swamy, who was arrested earlier this month in the Elgar Parishad and the Koregaon-Bhima case, has moved the special NIA court seeking interim bail citing his age, ailments and the coronavirus pandemic.

The NIA, however, opposed the plea on Saturday, stating that there is no merit in Swamy seeking relief as per the committee’s guidelines.

The court will hear Swamy’s bail application on Tuesday.
