A lower court in Madhugiri district of Karnataka has issued summons to Varavara Rao in one of the cases dating back to 2005.
Last week a lower court in Karnataka issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Telugu poet Varavara Rao in connection with the 2005 police massacre case. In response to that his counsel has filed a petition before the Karnataka High Court pleading to set aside warrant.

Four years after arrests in the Bhima Koregaon – Elgar Parishad Case, the National Investigation Agency has said that it will provide remaining copies of electronic evidence seized, but the trial in the case should go on.

The Bombay High Court on Friday extended interim protection to Telugu Poet PV Varavara Rao from surrendering before prison officials in the Bhima Koregaon – Elgar Parishad Case after his petition could not be heard due to paucity of time.
Rao has sought an extension of the medical bail granted to him on February 22, 2021, for six months, and modification of a bail condition to reside at his home in Telangana.

Anand Teltumbde, an accused in the Elgar Parishad Maoist links case, has filed a writ petition in Bombay High Court seeking that a provision under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to brand certain groups as a front for banned or terrorist organisations be quashed as it was bad in law.
The UAPA provides for the declaration of an association as unlawful and for the listing of organisations in the first schedule of the Act as “terrorist organisations”. Read more
